Loved this book for early readers who still enjoy a picture book. The book starts out by asking: Who is Baby Monkey? The answer: He's a baby, he's a monkey and he has a job...Baby Monkey, Private Eye! There are five chapters and five very separate cases to solve. Baby Monkey is adorable and can't solve a case until he puts his pants on. What's cool about this book is that the backgrounds are done in detailed pencil sketches, Brian Selznick style. The decor in each chapter is related to each individual case. Selznick uses bits of culture from the past that could become an opportunity to enlighten young readers about these intriguing historical references. I had the opportunity to read it to the students at the Goodyear Early Childhood Center. They loved it so much they asked me to bring it again! Great for ages 3 and up!
